The ‘Freedom Stairway’ 

The “Freedom Stairway,” one hundred steps from the Rankin House leading to the Ohio River, a station on the Underground Railroad. Rankin placed a candle in the window to indicate it was safe for slaves to approach, it is estimated that he freed over 1,000 slaves.
